Butterflies of Pennsylvania
As a beginner, it is great to have a book focused on Pennsylvania. The book makes me want to learn more about butterflies in our area. Supporting Birds
Duck stamps benefit wetlands all over the USA. There are fewer hunters around than there used to be but birding is a growing hobby with the same requirement for nature. Regardless of your feelings about hunting, consider buying a duck stamp. There is also the possibility to support the program and specifically point out that you do so as a birder via the American Birding Society. They sell the duck stamp here: shop.aba.org/index.php/federal-duck-stamp.html
